Decades of Experience and Guaranteed Performance

Envirogen has over 20 years of turnkey water and wastewater treatment design, installation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) experience. We have successfully completed more than 100 industrial wastewater and groundwater remediation projects, with most including a requirement to remove toxic metals. Our focus is on lifecycle cost management, helping clients optimize resources and make informed decisions.

We deliver reliable environmental solutions across the full project lifecycle:

  • Design & Installation: Custom, efficient, and reliable water, wastewater, and remediation systems built to your exact specifications.
  • Research & Validation: We utilize on-site pilot plant trials and testing for technologies like ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF). This rigorous validation ensures the treatment approach is dictated by the specific water chemistry, including metals concentrations and forms, as well as the project’s duration.
  • Operations, Service, & Maintenance: We offer full-time O&M staffing, routine contracts, and emergency response. Envirogen’s Lifecycle Cost Assurance Program offers performance guarantees, ensuring reliable outcomes throughout the asset’s lifecycle.

Targeting ELG, CCR, and the Mandate for Zero Liquid Discharge

The EPA’s ELG rule sets federal limits on toxic metals in wastewater discharged from coal-fired power plants, and recent May 2024 Updates have imposed more stringent standards on FGD wastewater and Combustion Residuals Leachate (CRL). Our technology portfolio is designed to meet these challenges, including the emerging mandate for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).

Groundwater Contamination & Legacy CCR Remediation

Producers transitioning away from coal are now required to reclaim and safely decommission legacy CCR storage ponds. New regulations require timely treatment, dewatering, and remediation of these areas.

Application / Contaminant Focus
The Regulatory Challenge
Proven Envirogen Experience & Marketable Benefit
Combustion Residuals Leachate (CRL)
Managing toxic metal levels (e.g., Arsenic: 11 μg/L max; Mercury: 788 ng/L max) from unmanaged CRL affecting surface water. Groundwater extraction is needed for hydraulic control and removal of metals.
Advanced Metals Removal System (AMRS) featuring FerroLock Zero Valent Iron (ZVI) media. The AMRS is designed to effectively eliminate arsenic, mercury, and other metals. Configurations are standalone or containerized for optimal performance.
Toxic Metals Removal
Removing common toxic metals found in remediation and wastewater projects.
We have extensive experience treating selenium, arsenic, mercury, chromium, lead, thallium, iron, manganese, aluminum, vanadium, cadmium, copper, and other metals.
Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Water Reuse

The EPA mandates ZLD as the best available technology (BAT) for managing FGD wastewater and CRL at coal-fired power plants using coal beyond 2034.

  • Membrane-Based ZLD: Our approach includes reverse osmosis (RO), ultrafiltration (UF), and direct nanofiltration (dNF) technology to facilitate water reuse initiatives.
  • Brine Reduction: Envirogen’s ZLD-optimized membrane solutions significantly reduce the volume of brine requiring evaporation or immobilization, improving treatment efficiency and ensuring compliance.
  • PureSep Membranes: PureSep Ultrafiltration (UF) enhances filtration capabilities for RO pre-treatment by removing suspended solids, bacteria, and viruses. PureSep Nanofiltration (NF) provides partial dissolved solids removal while consuming a fraction of the energy required by traditional spiral wound NF processes.
High Purity Water and Mobile Solutions

Power plants require high-purity water for critical boiler and steam operations.

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO): Our modular, skid-based RO systems are specifically optimized for power plants to deliver consistent high-purity water, enhancing equipment efficiency and lifespan. The Eco MultiPro RO-EDI system combines high efficiency with a compact design, providing continuous, chemical-free ultra-pure water and achieving up to 98% water recovery.
  • Mobile Deionization (MODI): Envirogen’s trailer-mounted Mobile Deionization systems provide a fast, flexible, and reliable source of demineralized water during commissioning, boiler fills, steam blows, planned outages, or unplanned water quality issues.

Guaranteed Compliance and Proven Cost Optimization

We combine advanced technology, equipment expertise, and operational experience to deliver efficient water and wastewater treatment systems, proven at hundreds of sites worldwide.

  • Extensive Experience: Envirogen has successfully completed more than 100 industrial wastewater and groundwater remediation projects.
  • Technical Validation: Our ZVI technology was developed after extensive research and testing to select the optimum Zero Valent Iron media for each water chemistry, resulting in the high-efficiency FerroLock ZVI media.
  • Pilot Testing: We offer lab-scale bench-top and skid-based UF/NF membrane pilot plant trials for on-site testing and evaluation.
